Evening. Friends, thanks so much for joining me on this first edition of my vlog. I’m really excited to go on this journey. I’m going to try as much to go unedited as possible. Of course, I do have kids roaming around the house all the time and dog and you know, whatever happens, happens. So I may have to edit a few things out, but hopefully not.

00:00:21:08 – 00:00:46:26
Speaker 1
But kind of one of my first one to be about this journey I’ve been on lately with 75 hard. If you’ve been following me on Instagram or Facebook or any of my other social media, really, you’ve been kind of seeing me post about being on the 75 hard program for the last 68 days. It’s been great. It’s been one of the biggest life changes I’ve had that I can remember in a very long time.

00:00:46:26 – 00:01:08:20
Speaker 1
As far as my health is concerned. Just to kind of play back as to what I was dealing with and why I thought that it would be a good idea for me. I was, you know, I to after my divorce, you know, for several years, I was kind of going out with my friends, reliving my twenties and doing a little too much partying and drinking a lot.

00:01:09:26 – 00:01:28:17
Speaker 1
And, you know, you drink, you eat when you sit at home and work, you eat. You know, I also went from working in an office to working full time remote at home. So you’re not working from you’re not walking from the parking garage. You’re not getting in that exercise, walking around, going to lunch every day, things like that.

00:01:28:18 – 00:01:49:00
Speaker 1
So, you know, when I became sedentary in the house for work, you know, I didn’t really adjust my lifestyle much for that when I should have. You know, because at the time it’s not like I was light any way. I was I was walking around at about 255 to 60 most days when I was when I was working in the office.

00:01:49:00 – 00:02:16:11
Speaker 1
And then I got up to about 275 over the last year or so, working from home and with COVID and things like that. So that being said, I started feeling really bad. I was having a ton of anxiety, you know, having the awkwardness of bad knee pain, shoulder pain, back pain pretty much all the time. And then, you know, I was also having sleep issues, you name it.

00:02:16:11 – 00:02:41:17
Speaker 1
I was dealing with it. And, you know, after a while just decided it was time to do something. And I had decided probably 20 times that it was time to do something and just wasn’t committing to anything. So I follow a bunch of woodworkers. As you know, I’ve had a woodshop go on for about two years. It was my covered hobby and I’ve turned it into a small business, but I follow a woodworker.

00:02:41:17 – 00:03:02:11
Speaker 1
His name is John Maleki. He’s a Pittsburgh woodworker. He was a Pittsburgh Steeler. I mean, the guy’s a mountain bunny and he’s hilarious, but super funny guy, a super cool guy. And he was talking about doing 75 hard after his child was born, after his little girl was born. And the thing that got me is he popped out and he said, I lost £30.

00:03:02:11 – 00:03:20:15
Speaker 1
And I was like, in 75 days. That’s pretty good. So this program must be good. Typically, I’m skeptical about diets. You know, I like to listen to Rogan. I like to look at a lot of the stuff he does. And, you know, I did a carnivore diet for a little while and I’ve actually done it a little bit on this program as well.

00:03:20:27 – 00:03:44:29
Speaker 1
But I usually look at the science behind them and think that they’re garbage. So I move on from them quickly. But so I got on to the website. Andy Fossella is the guy who puts on 75 hard who invented it. St Louis Guy owns a supplements company, but he’s not like a jacked dude that like you would think about when you think jacked ripped dudes.

00:03:44:29 – 00:04:09:04
Speaker 1
He’s just a big guy. You can tell that he works out. You can tell that he’s got good fitness, good health. But he’s also a guy who came from a place of big struggle in his life. So I kind of attached to that a little bit and started following him and then picked up the book. Like I said, off Amazon’s 20 bucks and it’s called 75 Hard and basically has nothing to do with getting on this program.

00:04:09:04 – 00:04:25:13
Speaker 1
That’s one of my favorite things about it is it’s not like, you know, it’s not a book that tells you about a diet and it’s not a book that tells you how to workout. It’s a book that tells you how to be mentally tough and mental toughness, getting you to physical fitness is something that I’d never really thought about since I was younger.

00:04:26:18 – 00:04:47:20
Speaker 1
So picked it up, read the book and you know, with God’s grace, I’ve been on the program for the last 68 days. I started out the program, my skill at home said to 68 a doctor’s appointment about six weeks before or I started the program, said I was to 80 and some change. So I was somewhere between 268 to 81.

00:04:47:20 – 00:05:11:18
Speaker 1
I started using a better scale, much more calibrated. Now I’m walking around at about 236 hydrate and fed every day. So all in all, I’ve lost about £40, depending on how you calculate it, between 35 and 40. So I feel a ton better just because of the weight loss. Not only that, there are 75 hard deals with a few different aspects.

00:05:11:18 – 00:05:29:11
Speaker 1
It’s not just weight loss and not just the workout, so you have to have to work out today. Both are 45 minutes. One of them has to be outdoors, so you have to go outside. You have to brave the elements. We’ve done it in the rain. We’ve done it in the cold a little bit. It’s November in Tennessee, so it’s mild out freezing today, but it’s mild out most days.

00:05:29:11 – 00:05:54:26
Speaker 1
So hasn’t been too bad. All in all, we didn’t have a ton of rain. The heat got me a few days and when I was first starting. But all in all, pretty, pretty good weather. I’ve been really fortunate and lucky to work out 45 minutes. Like I said, you have to be on a strict diet. So for the first two weeks I went for ketosis so that I could get rid of some bad habits and I was drinking like 810 cokes a day depending on which day it was.

00:05:55:08 – 00:06:15:26
Speaker 1
I know it sounds like a ton is super, super terrible for your body. I was doing it 810 cokes a day full of sugar. Was drinking vodka with them sometimes. I mean, you’re really dealing with the alcohol plus the soda. So, you know, I cut all the sugar out, went for keto, cut out all the carbs and just went with healthy fats.

00:06:15:26 – 00:06:37:26
Speaker 1
In the first week or two I think was two weeks. I lost about £15. I dropped water weight quicker than anything because the second part of this is you got to drink a gallon of water a day. That was one of the hardest things for me to do now. I was drinking a ton of water for the average person to say they drink a ton of water, but not really a ton of water when you think about health and fitness.

00:06:38:06 – 00:07:07:10
Speaker 1
So doing the gallon a day, it was tough at first, but now it’s kind of second nature and most days I end up doing a little bit more. So that was first couple weeks full ketone. Then I went low carb after that because progressively I’ve been I’m sorry about progressively I’ve been reading about different diets as I go and understanding, you know, how to tell my body, trick my body into doing things the right way to stay physically fit.

00:07:07:10 – 00:07:31:01
Speaker 1
So for keto first couple of weeks, then I went low carb for most of the rest I did drop to Carnivore for six days so that I could shed a little bit more weight and drop some excess water and just try it out. Really, it was good, but I’m back low carb now. I won’t tell you what my macros are because yours are going to be different.

00:07:31:01 – 00:07:48:23
Speaker 1
We’re all different people. You need to measure your macros. But I do go off a macro based system and I mean about 2200 calories a day started out eating 1200 calories a day. I was at a huge deficit because I really wanted to lose fast. That’s not a super healthy way for everyone I know my body will do it so I was okay with doing that.

00:07:50:06 – 00:08:10:23
Speaker 1
As far as the workouts are concerned, I lift in the morning and do cardio in the afternoon. While I did that for the beginning, I’m doing lifting and cardio now for both workouts. It’s a little tough the last few weeks because I’ve had broken finger I’ve been walking around with from playing football with the kids, so I would recommend not breaking your finger, but you should still play football with your kids.

00:08:11:25 – 00:08:32:27
Speaker 1
But super, super easy lifting pattern. I’m not doing super heavy weights most days for this last 15 days of the program. Starting at day 60, I did start adding way more heavy weight in the morning just because I’m trying to bulk in some places as I go into the next phase of 75. Hard for me, which I’ll talk about in a few minutes.

00:08:32:27 – 00:09:00:21
Speaker 1
But so to work out today, one outdoors gallon of water and strict diet. Next thing is no alcohol present, no alcohol, not one drink can you have while you’re on this program has nothing to do with the health aspect. It’s it’s really just a discipline aspect and keeping your brain in the right spot for growth. I thought this was B.S. at the beginning.

00:09:00:21 – 00:09:24:10
Speaker 1
I was like, I’m an adult. I’ll drink when I want to. But man, after 25 days of going without drinks at all, no stress relief drinks in the evening, I had to figure out a way to cope with my stress differently, and that’s another vlog that I’ll talk about that on later. But it did help me learn to cope, to cope with some different things that I was dealing with and do it better.

00:09:24:19 – 00:09:56:21
Speaker 1
So the no alcohol thing, I would say is a very good thing. And I’m I will continue it, you know, not as not as strict as every day, but I will continue it pretty fully and set some pretty good boundaries for myself after this is over, then you got to take photos of yourself every day. I do have six or eight days worth of photos, and when I look at the original photos, I’m like, I’ll post those down below the vlog here with the transcript, but post some of them, not all of them, but it’s been good to track progress.

00:09:56:21 – 00:10:19:13
Speaker 1
I’m feeling good about it. And then you have to read ten pages a day. Now I’m a pretty avid reader. Anyway, I try to stick with the Zuckerberg program, the 52 books a year. For the last two years, I haven’t really been able to do that with the other things I’ve been devoting time to. It’s not a I’m I try not to be a person that says I don’t have time for things because you make time for the things you want to do.

00:10:20:12 – 00:10:42:10
Speaker 1
So so that being said, I have read at 20 or 30 this year so far, but it is ten pages a day. It does get you in a routine to to help you with your daily reading and to get you back on a better education plan. And that’s it. The program is just a disciplined program. It’s a mental toughness program.

00:10:42:10 – 00:11:06:00
Speaker 1
It’s a it’s a mind body health program. And I’ve really enjoyed it. So some of the big takeaways, if you’re thinking about doing it, I’ll post the links below for the the apps in the book self so that you can jump in and look at it if you want to. If you find it something you can’t, you may not be able to do.

00:11:06:00 – 00:11:24:11
Speaker 1
You just can’t do that. Toughen up and do it. And I’m just going to say it like that. Toughen up and do it. It’s such you don’t want to do it. And if you want to do something with your body, you can do something in your mind. You got to you got to commit to it and you got to stop saying you can’t now because you can.

00:11:24:11 – 00:11:43:07
Speaker 1
A couple of great apps that go with it. The 75 Heart app is great for everyday tracking. One of the coolest things is this and it’ll kick you right in the teeth. The first time it happens is if you look like you’ve missed a day, that means your timer goes past midnight. Which happened to me a few times when I’ve been working.

00:11:43:07 – 00:12:00:12
Speaker 1
You get a picture of Andy for selfies like this, looking at you, telling you, you know, that you suck. I need to get better. So one of the things I like about him, I’m a person that likes to be pushed. I like I like somebody that’s tough on me. So I don’t I don’t have a and I have a problem with that.

00:12:00:12 – 00:12:18:19
Speaker 1
But it says, you know, don’t cheat yourself. And that is one of the things I really respect about the the program in the app is, you know, you just got the support team that’s telling you don’t cheat yourself and they continue with it to die in the middle of it. And I’m using a DJI and Osmo. And so when it does it, it dies.

00:12:20:05 – 00:12:37:24
Speaker 1
But I was talking about the first format. One of the cool things about the first form app is First Form is a company that sell for Cella and Andy for Cella are running in behind. I may have misquoted that. I’ll I’ll do some research and make sure I get that right. But sell for sell Andy for sign or part.

00:12:38:15 – 00:13:00:07
Speaker 1
They do have an app test. It’s about 13 bucks a month for a membership, but you get a coach and that coach will give you some good tips about eating diet. Yeah, at this point I’m just leaving it in there. But they’ll give you some tips about eating and diet. That’ll that will really help you out. So all in all, the program has been really great for me.

00:13:00:15 – 00:13:14:10
Speaker 1
I’m really blessed to have been a part of it. I’m going to keep on going. So one of the things I’m going to do after it is I’m going to up the workouts and do the 30 day afterward program does involve some cold plunge, cold shower type thing. So I’m doing some research on that to figure it out.

00:13:14:10 – 00:13:31:09
Speaker 1
Probably going to do the sauna thing as well, but I’m going to change my diet a little bit because I do want to do another cut similar to the first one. All in all, I want to get out and down to about 205. You know, 30 years ago when I graduated high school, I was, you know, 185 and I was pretty chiseled.

00:13:32:03 – 00:13:52:26
Speaker 1
I want to be that way again. I do miss the way I felt when I was there. And I also want to try to do some long distance running. So all in all, feeling really good about the program, I, I would recommend it to anyone who’s trying to do something better with their mind and body, whether it’s weight loss you’re looking for, you just want to feel healthier mentally and physically.

00:13:52:26 – 00:14:06:19
Speaker 1
I would recommend it to anybody. If you have any questions about it, definitely leave them in. The comments below hit me up on social media. All my links are below in the footer of the website, but I look forward to doing this more often. And thank you guys for watching.
